Speakers BureauElders in Action Speakers Bureau program consists of a vibrant group of volunteers who reach out to older adults, civic groups, businesses and other non-profit organizations about the work and services of Elders in Action. Our trained volunteers participated in over 90 presentations/events last year; reaching over 51,000 people. Volunteers are available to present information about Elders in Action and the various programs we offer in a 30 minute presentation (plus question & answer). If you are interested in scheduling a presentation or are interested in having Elders in Action participate in an upcoming community tabling event, please contact our office at (503) 235-5474 or by email at info@eldersinaction.org Elders in Action Speakers Bureau frequently partners with other organizations on various outreach opportunities. Here are some of our current speaker's bureau partnerships: Civic Education Awareness Project (CEAP)Multnomah Bar FoundationThe CEAP program joins forces with the Multnomah Bar Association and other experts in law to share information and material to older adults in the tri-county area to improve general understanding of the legal system and how to use this information to become more informed consumers. Walk Smart Campaign PartnershipWillamette Pedestrian CoalitionThe Walk Smart Campaign is aimed at seniors in Multnomah and Washington Counties. Walk Smart classes empower older adults to explore their walking and transit options, to promote walking as a healthy and safe way to get around, and to provide information and resources that encourage walking as a lifestyle choice. Volunteers are available to present the Walk Smart class in a one hour presentation (includes time for Question & Answer). Ride Wise offers many services that provide training and support for all customers to access the bus, light rail and other alternative transportation options. Programs include:
Trained volunteers are available to come out and make group presentations and to do individual travel training for older adults and people with disabilities. Public Education Officers from Portland Fire & Rescue along with an Elders in Action volunteer are available to come out and speak to older adults about basic fire and fall prevention for the home using the nationally recognized Remembering When™ curriculum.
